Photoshop Elements for Artists

These classes are for people who want to use Elements to create art, and who want to approach it from a visual more than a technical perspective.

Elements Basics for Digital Arts

Add Photoshop Elements to your artist toolkit. This beginner-level class has four lessons. You’ll create 4 artsy projects and learn how to use Elements as you go.

Class Overview

Lesson 1

Let’s start with a template, a simple project with openings where you insert your own photos or scans of your original artwork. In class, you’ll

  • Crop and add a photo or scan to your project
  • Add frames, text, and embellishments to the project
  • Save your page two ways, so you can print it and also save it to the web

Lesson 2

Starting with another template, you'll learn how to

  • Create basic and custom shapes
  • Install and stamp a digital brush

Lesson 3

Now, create your first project from scratch! You'll learn how to

  • Add, manipulate, and manage layers
  • Create semi-transparent layers
  • Add a cut-out shape and textural edges to your project

Lesson 4

You'll create another project from scratch, and you'll learn how to:

  • Convert images to black-and-white or various-tones
  • Create and mange multiple patterned layers
  • Create text layers in different sizes and arrangements
  • Use effects and filters to change the appearance of your project

NOTE: The class is taught using Photoshop Elements 10. The concepts in the lessons apply to most versions of Photoshop and Photoshop Elements as well as other most image editing software.

Meets four times, 1.5-hours each meeting.
$ 132 (pre-registration price)
$ 160 (late registration price, available only if space available)
